Qiu Mingwei, the former Deputy Chief of the 'People’s Forum' of the People’s Daily, the main mouthpiece of the CCP, fled to Hong Kong last month. He announced at a press conference on August 23 that he had quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations, making him the first employee of an organization affiliated with the Central Propaganda Department to quit the CCP using his real name.

A large number of media reporters turned out at the press conference when Mr. Qiu made his public announcement.

The 'Quit communist party' movement started quietly and quickly after the book Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party was published by The Epoch Times in Nov,2004. About 60 million people have quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), communist youth league and young pioneers ( affiliated organizations of the Party) through the Epoch Times website. The Epoch Times is now the biggest Chinese independent media in the world.

Mr.Qiu stated that the People’s Daily uses its power and influence to brainwash people in the work place so that they will keep in line with party propaganda and many people are fed up with such behaviour and show strong dissatisfaction. They started to quit the CCP after reading the Nine Commentaries.

Qui says persecution of Falun Gong is biggest issue in China

He revealed that it is now the trend to quit the CCP, as people see through the true nature of the communist party. Many of them expressed strong sympathy towards Falun Gong practitioners who suffer from the illegal treatment. People know that the CCP tries every means to slander Falun Gong and to eliminate its influence, and this has resulted in more people knowing the truth and more high ranking officials quitting the CCP.

Qiu said that the way communism deals with people who have beliefs, persecuting them either by violence or by slander is well understood. The more lies they spread, the more high officials quit their own party. More and more people in the CCP realize that communism is doomed. "Many of us discuss privately that the CCP will fall on matters of corruption. There is no way out."

Mr. Qiu said at the meeting that one of his friends is the member of the national peoples’ congress in Heilongjiang province. He openly quit the CCP and told Mr. Qiu that he was from a non-government organization. “Why should I be afraid, since I do not seek power or money nor want to be a party official?”

One retired high ranking official in the ministry of construction openly expressed his dissatisfaction about the corruption and the use of bribery. He said. “I have worked for the communist regime all my life and I regret having joined this party. Why? Just for their crushing of Falun Gong. It has no reason at all. The regime tried to get some scientists to prove Falun Gong wrong. They just made fools of themselves. If Falun Gong is not good why are there so many people practicing Falun Gong in so many parts of the world? Why is our Chinese practice appreciated by so many nationalities? It is really against the will of the people to persecute Falun Gong. Sooner or later the CCP will find it hard to meet these challenges.”

Many of us got to know Falun Gong because the present regime keeps smearing it and makes us seek information about it. By reading the Epoch Times website and other flyers on Falun Gong, we understand better what FLG is and there are still quite a few people who practice Falun Gong in ministry and at government levels.

Qiu told inside stories on how the Chinese regime persecuted Falun Gong during the last ten years: “To meet a quota is the task of police and the security department. In order to increase the destruction of Falun Gong, All public security and police stations, have a quota to meet each year, such as how many should be sent to labour camps and to detention centres. And how many should be put in prisons.”

One police man told Qiu that it is part of their job description for superiors to check at the end of the year. If they fail to do so, they will not get an annual bonus or other allowances.

Qiu said that he had personally witnessed the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners. He once saw a woman being chased by policeman in plain clothes and the woman drowned after falling into the river. Qiu said, “I was not the only one who saw it. Many onlookers saw it happen. We were all shocked. I asked why they were so cruel to the woman. Policeman in plain clothes told me that she was a Falun Gong practitioner.”

On the question of overseas infiltration by ccp

Qiu revealed the CCP’s extensive infiltration in overseas countries, “The CCP sent out culture spies to infiltrate overseas Chinese media and websites, attacking and framing dissidents, including media workers like us in China, who support democracy movements.”

“I have been working for People’s Daily for many years. Even I could not find any improvement in human rights in China. They did not keep their promises, and the human rights condition is getting worse.”

Qiu is now seeking political asylum overseas.
